Glacier National Park 2021 – Day 5

Hey Guys!

This post continues our time in Glacier National Park.

We visited the park on Sept. 4-11.

After having a very restless night, we decided we would take it easy.

I truly think my body went into shock after all of that hiking!!

After we woke up, we went and sat on the balcony and had our coffee.

You just can’t beat these views!

The boats for the Grinnell Glacier hike had started running around 8 am..

After about 2 hrs of relaxing on our balcony, we decided to head out and hike the very short trail to Fishercap Lake.

A shot of the hotel from the parking lot..

The trail is located next to the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn about 5 mins from the Many Glacier Hotel.

This lake is known for moose….best sightings are early morning or later in the evening.

The trail is flat and only around 0.8 miles round trip.

Shots along the trail

Unfortunately, there were no moose in the lake when we arrived.

So, we drove back to our hotel to have lunch.

The hotel had beautiful flowers growing everywhere!

Once inside the hotel, we walked around admiring the incredible architecture and reading about the history of the hotel.

In one of the dining rooms, there were beautiful paintings hanging all along the walls.

After we ordered lunch, we found a table next to the window that had some awesome views of the lake!

See the menu here

I ordered the bacon cheeseburger ($7.80) and fries ($3.95) and the hubby ordered the 5 piece chicken strips ($9.95)…the food was surprisingly very good & reasonably priced.

After lunch, we noticed a divider that was set up in the dining room that displayed old pictures of the hotel so we walked over to check it out.

The display included a description and the history behind each picture

A little while later, we headed outside to find a quiet spot by the lake to relax.

After sitting by the lake for a while, we headed back to our room to, once again, enjoy our awesome balcony!

Later, we decided to head back out to Fishercap Lake to see if we would have better luck spotting a moose. We left around 4:00 pm.

This time, there was a moose in the middle of the lake!

I was beyond excited as seeing a moose is so rare!

After sitting and watching her eat for over an hour, we decided to head back to our hotel.

On the way back to our car, we stopped in at the Swiftcurrent general store and bought some yummy blackberry ice cream…..so good!

Headed back to our hotel

Once we arrived to the hotel, we got to witness another gorgeous sunset!

We quickly headed back to our room so we wouldn’t miss it!

We have determined that Lake McDonald and Many Glacier are the two best places to watch the sunrise/sunset.

I highly recommend you get a room with a balcony if you stay here….these views can’t be beat!!

We sat on our balcony for at least 2 hours!

After the sunset, we sat outside on the balcony and star gazed.

Glacier is a dark sky park, so the star gazing here is amazing!

We’ve seen the milky way & multiple shooting stars during  our visits. The northern lights can also be spotted in the park!

After star gazing, we called it a night.

Thanks for reading!

Stay tuned for Day 6.
