A Weekend in a Treehouse – Day 1 – Dec 2023

Hey Guys!

My hubby and I recently celebrated 35 years of wedded bliss!

Even though we had spent a night at the Opryland Hotel for our anniversary, this weekend getaway had already been planned prior to that.

I had planned a weekend trip for us in a small town called Copperhill, TN.

I had never heard of Copperhill before but saw an advertisement on Facebook about a place called Treehouse Mountain so I looked into it.

Yes, those ads on Facebook really work! It’s also how I found out about these domes where I ended up spending my birthday last year!

Once I looked into the treehouses, I decided it would be a neat place for us to spend our anniversary!

I love staying in unique properties …so, I’m always on the lookout!

We headed out on a Thursday morning and made a quick stop at a nearby Chick fil A for breakfast.

After breakfast, we continued our drive.

The treehouses are located approximately 4 hrs from our house.

After arriving to a small town called McCaysville, we stopped for lunch since we couldn’t check in until 3 pm.

This little place was booming!

We couldn’t believe how busy it was considering it was 3 days after Christmas and on a Thursday!

We ended up finding a parking space in a small residential area and then walked to a nearby restaurant called Burra Burra.

The restaurant was very busy and we ended up having to wait about 20 mins for a table.

They had a deck where you could sit and have lunch with views of the water but it was way too cold for that!

Once we got seated, we looked over the menu.

I ended up ordering the Cobb salad and the hubby ordered the fish and chips.

The food was very expensive and not that great!

McCaysville is a popular place because it’s one of the stops on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway that leaves out of the nearby town of Blue Ridge, GA.

The small town lies on the TN-GA border….if you drive over this bridge, you will be in Georgia.

After having lunch, my hubby wanted to walk around the neat little town to check it out but I told him I was ready to get to our “cabin”.

He had no idea that I had booked a treehouse for our weekend getaway! It was a surprise!

I told him that I had booked a cabin and that it wasn’t in the best location because there hadn’t  been many options left when I got ready to book something….I really played it up and made him think this was going to be a typical weekend getaway!

So, we left the quaint little town, and headed to the treehouse.

It was only a 15 min drive from McCaysville.

Of course, when we finally arrived to the property, he looked at me and started laughing!

Driving onto the property

Treehouse Mountain offers 4 different treehouses.

Only one of the four treehouses has a full bathroom so, of course, that’s the one I booked!

One has a toilet and the other two have a nearby bathhouse that guests have to use.

The property was well signed so we drove straight to our treehouse.

Now this is what I call  a “real” treehouse!

So, another surprise that I had planned for my husband was, I had a florist deliver a bouquet of flowers, balloons, and rose petals.

I had also ordered a charcuterie board, meatballs & bread with dipping sauce from the Pasta Market in Blue Ridge…..and I had ordered cupcakes, cinnamon rolls and chocolate dipped strawberries from the Sweet Shoppe in Blue Ridge.

The property manager of the treehouses had offered to pick up anything that I had ordered and set it up in our treehouse before we arrived.

She didn’t charge anything extra to do this!!

Tip: You could also use a company called the Cabin Concierge...they will set up your cabin anyway you want but they charge.

So, needless to say, when my hubby walked into the treehouse, he was very surprised!

Layla, the property manager, had gone above and beyond decorating our treehouse!

She was so eager to help out in any way she could and really wanted to make this as special as possible for our anniversary!

The flower arrangement that the florist had made for us was gorgeous!

We were both pleasantly surprised by the food, flowers and decorations as well as the cute, little treehouse!

The first floor had a small kitchen, living room and a full bathroom.

My hubby went upstairs to check out the bedroom and called for me to come up as soon as he got up there.

Layla had also decorated the bedroom for us!

I couldn’t believe how much work she had put into making this so special for us!

Tip: Lyla, who is 28 yrs old, received the AirBnb 30 under 30 award that honors successful young Superhosts, a recognition for top property renters, who have a high share of five-star reviews. She definitely deserved it!

The upstairs bedroom was very spacious and was surrounded by windows.

The owners had really put a lot of thought into this treehouse.

Since they obviously couldn’t fit a couch or chair in the upstairs bedroom, they had used cushions for a couch a had a neat table that was made from a tree!

We loved the railing that was made from mountain laurel!

After checking out the inside, we headed outside to check out the huge deck!

The deck had enough seating for approx. 10-12 people!

Since there was no stove in the kitchen, they had provided a blackstone griddle on the deck so you could prepare any meal you wanted!

Each treehouse also had its own private fire pit. The owners provide the wood and fire starter too!

One of the coolest things about this treehouse is, it had a wood fired hot tub!

It’s the only treehouse that has a hot tub.

This was our first time seeing a wood fired hot tub…actually, I didn’t even know something like this existed!

I had to let Layla know that we would be using the hot tub prior to arriving because they drain the tub after each guest’s stay and fill it up again…then, they have to heat the water up which takes approx 4-6 hours.

However, once the water has been heated, if you want to use it again after that, it only takes approx. 2 hours to heat it up.

The owner had to come to the treehouse each day to get the hot tub ready for us.

It was a lot of work for the owner but he seemed very eager to please his guests!

A couple of hours after arriving, we were able to enjoy the hot tub.

It was so cool!

The hot tub had staggered seating that went all the way around the inside and had small shelves attached to the sides so you had somewhere to sit your drinks, etc.

After spending about an hour in the hot tub, we headed back inside to enjoy the food I had ordered.

It was so good!

We loved the chocolate covered strawberries!

During the fall and winter months, the treehouses aren’t as private as the spring/summer months.

All of the treehouses can be seen from any treehouse you stay in…however, the decks are facing the woods so, it feels very private.

At night, the property is lit up so if you need to go outside to your vehicle or to the bathroom, you will be able to see. They also offer a flashlight in each house.

After eating and watching TV for a while, we called it a night!

You could lie in bed and watch the stars!

Or TV! 😆

Thanks for reading!

Stay tuned for Day 2!
