Hey Guys!

This post continues our anniversary getaway at a Treehouse in Copperhill, TN.

We started our morning with coffee & the rest of our delicious cinnamon rolls!

We then headed to the hot tub to enjoy an early morning soak!

It was so peaceful!

After spending some time in the hot tub, we decided to head to a nearby lake in Blue Ridge to have a picnic lunch.

The Blue Ridge Lake offers campsites, several boat ramps, swimming, picnic areas, and rentals for all sorts of water activities at their full-service marina.

The lake is 11 miles long with 65 miles of shoreline with 80 percent of the shoreline being part of the Chattahoochee National Forest.

After arriving to the lake, we found a picnic area at Morganton Point.

There was no one else around when we arrived which made it even more peaceful!

The water level of the lake was really low.

The lake was formed when a dam was constructed on the Toccoa River by the Toccoa Electric Power Company. When it was built in 1930, it was the largest earthen dam in the southeast! The TVA purchased the facility in 1939 for hydroelectric power production.

So now, the TVA controls the water levels of the lake.

Since it was cold, we decided on a picnic table that was a little further from the lake.

We still had quite a bit of food left over from our charcuterie boards so it made for a nice picnic lunch.

After having lunch, we spent some time just driving around.

There was snow on top of the mountains!

The views in this area are so beautiful!

After driving around for a few hours, we headed to Sue’s Burgers in Blue Ridge to have dinner.

We had eaten here on our last trip to Blue Ridge and really enjoyed their burgers so, we decided to eat here again.

I ordered the mountain burger and the hubby ordered the bacon cheeseburger and once again, the burgers were delicious!

The only bad thing about this restaurant is, it’s a very small family owned business and you have to wait quite a while for your food…..we waited an hour!

See their menu here

After dinner, we headed back to the treehouse so we could spend some time in the hot tub.

Later, we called it a night!

The next morning, I decided to spend some time in the hot tub before we had to pack up and head home.

It was a great way to enjoy my morning coffee!

And to watch the sunrise!

I then headed back inside where we enjoyed cupcakes and chocolate covered strawberries for breakfast! A breakfast of champions! 😉

After breakfast, we packed up and headed home.

One more shot of the treehouse!

On the way home, our route takes us along the Ocoee Scenic Byway that follows alongside the Ocoee River.

The Ocoee was home of the 1996 Olympic canoe and kayak slalom events.

There are many hiking trails along this drive and white water rafting is the most popular activity in this area.

We spotted a sign for a few scenic overlooks so decided to check it out.

The first one was the Sugarloaf Overlook.

This overlook had beautiful views of the lake, mountains and the marina!

The next overlook was called Chilhowee Mountain. This overlook gave you similar views but without the marina.

Tip: Click here for hiking trails in this area & don’t miss the Benton Falls hike that’s located on this road – Be bear aware – back in 2006 a 6 yr old girl was killed by a bear at Benton Falls

The last overlook was called the Gazebo Overlook. Like the name, you will find a gazebo that sits atop Chilhowee Mountain overlooking Benton Tennessee.

If you continue driving another mile past the gazebo, you will come to the Chilhowee Recreation Area.

Here you will find a 7 acre lake that offers a nice swim area with a sand beach, picnic tables, more than 70 campsites, RV sites, electric hookups & bathhouses. You can also fish & hike here.

After stopping at all of the overlooks, we continued our drive home.

A little while later, we were ready for lunch.

We spotted a very small cafe called Myrtle’s Cafe and decided to stop.

We have driven this road many, many times when we visit North Carolina and knew that this cafe hadn’t been opened very long.

We were surprised it was even open since it was a Sunday and most small businesses are closed on Sunday.

After parking, we walked in and the lady working told us it would be a while before we would get our food because she was the only one there!

Since we weren’t in a hurry, we decided to stay and just wait.

After grabbing a table, we looked over the menu.

They had a pretty extensive menu considering how small this place was!

I decided on a sandwich called the Myrtle which was roast beef on a hoagie bun with goat cheese, pepper jack cheese, cucumber, onion, spring mix and mayo.

My hubby ordered the Reuben which was corned beef on rye swirl bread with Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and a homemade Russian sauce.

I have eaten many sandwiches in my life but this was the best sandwich I had ever eaten!

After devouring our sandwiches, we decided to try one of the delicious looking desserts!

We decided to share a warm brownie covered in chocolate sauce and berries.

It was so goooood & the owner gave it to us at no charge because of our wait!

The cafe was really cute on the inside too!

We will definitely be stopping here again on our next trip to NC!

After lunch, we headed home!
